My Experience

Background & Expertise

Teaching Experience

From introductory statistics courses for undergraduate students to consulting and computing courses for graduate statistics majors, I have several years of teaching experience in the Department of Statistics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Research Experience

Through six years of research assistantships, I have had the opportunity to conduct research in the fields of group testing and student retention. I have also worked as a statistical consultant, assisting students and faculty in various departments across the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Other Experience

Throughout my undergraduate and graduate careers, I have worked as a marching band instructor and band paraprofessional, a statistical intern at a pharmaceutical company, and a volunteer intern at the FBI. I have also had the opportunity to work as a tutor in various capacities.

Graduate Assistant, Department of Statistics

August 2019 - Present

  • Evaluated assignments and exams for one section of 2-credit graduate-level computing course, Computing Tools for Statisticians; 14 statistics majors and non-majors

  • Developed course lecture notes for the SQL procedure in SAS and the Shiny package in R

  • Delivered 35-minute course lecture for the SQL procedure in SAS and the Shiny package in R

  • Developed six lectures on various statistical topics, client projects and consulting challenges for one section of 3-credit graduate-level introductory statistical consulting course, Principles of Statistical Consulting and Interdisciplinary Collaboration; 15 statistics majors

  • Coordinated weekly schedules to ensure that students observed at least three sessions with various consultants throughout the semester

  • Conducted research in the field of group testing under the direction of Dr. Chris Bilder and as part of grant R01 AI121351 from the National Institutes of Health, finding the optimal testing configuration for standard group testing algorithms across a wide variety of situations and leading to a peer-reviewed publication

  • Developed R functions to implement calculations in group testing

  • Contributed to an R package

  • Designed an R Shiny application to disseminate research to non-statisticians

  • Consulted and/or collaborated with over 130 clients at the UNL Statistical Cross-disciplinary Collaboration and Consulting Lab (SC3L) under the direction of Dr. Kathy Hanford
